Shark Guardian is a UK-registered charity established in 2013, dedicated to global shark and marine conservation. Run by experienced shark researchers, divers, and marine educators, the organization leads impactful conservation campaigns—such as helping secure the UK shark fin trade ban (2019–2023)—while educating over 20,000 students annually through school presentations worldwide. Shark Guardian also hosts community events and organizes ethical shark diving and snorkeling trips, connecting people directly with sharks in their natural habitats. Through shark conservation advocacy, shark educational programs, citizen science research and shark diving expeditions in ecotourism, Shark Guardian inspires global action to protect sharks and ocean ecosystems.

Shark Guardian is passionate about educating people of all ages about sharks, their vital role in ocean ecosystems, and why their protection matters. Shark Guardian Shark Research & Citizen Science
Shark Guardian actively uses shark research and citizen science as vital tools for conservation and education, engaging divers and ocean lovers through projects like Shark Book AI to collect photographic ID data on species such as whale sharks. As a partner of eOceans and through collaborations with researchers, organizations, and universities, we contribute to vital shark and ray studies, with these initiatives forming a key part of our educational programs. We’ve also taken part in shark release events, connecting people directly with conservation in action.

Shark Guardian’s shark diving and snorkeling expeditions provide ethical, sustainable experiences that connect people with sharks in their natural habitats while supporting sanctuaries, marine protected areas, and national parks. Education, research, and citizen science are central to every trip, with a focus on responsible diving, strong buoyancy control, and respectful behavior to protect sharks and marine life. Our expeditions visit top destinations including Thailand, Indonesia, the Maldives, Galapagos, and South Africa, with more locations on the horizon.
